NSA rocks it by building temporary + collaborative platforms for research, education and art that shift public spaces into laboratories and abandoned properties into open studios.

EYEBEAM Digital Day Camp | 2009
Workshop series at Eyebeam’s youth art and technology summer program. Instruction in site-specific design interventions and group production of a Pop Up Party (PUP) under the High Line. The PUP bridged the “high line” and “low line,” cross-pollinating long-term residents and tourists through temporary installations, games and performances.

Watch us!

Stranded | 2009
One-night stand at the porta-potties of the Stranded art party extravaganza. Hybridizing the glitz of Mexican altars and order of Chinese street cleaners, NSA transformed this typically undesirable portable party infrastructure into a fun, fast, fortuitous shrine for physical and spiritual relief.

Look at us!

Goodmeet at SALT Art Space | 2009
Remixing the rigid Pecha Kucha format of presentation, the NSA freestyle experted on what it takes to shift spatial realities. We shared the morsels of our research and art production methodologies, while simultaneously producing sweet and savory snacks for the audience members – all in 6 minutes!

Appetite?!

TCMW at Columbia University | 2009
Take a Coffee Make a Wish (TCMW) mobile research unit. Passersby recorded a wish for the day in exchange for a biscuit and a shot of espresso. Wishes captured diverse demographics of students and long-term residents, and offered a temporary meeting ground to reflect on tensions of gentrification. In collaboration with Fabulous Agitation.

You've got to see this!

IKEA Taxi Takeover at CONFLUX City | 2009
Temporary takeover of the IKEA water taxi to stage a mobile Swedish snack and research station. Shoppers answered questions about their IKEA-related domestic aspirations in exchange for an IKEA-themed snack. The fabulous ferry-jacking was chapter of a residency at Fabulous Agitation.

Dome Colony at X Initiative | 2009
Installation and performance at Fritz Haeg’s Dome Colony at X Initative Gallery in Chelsea. Pop-up lecture series, community consultantcy and colonial exchange of DNA samples for candy. In addition, we placed boxes for visitors to deposit their secrets on one side of the gallery and a sister station for selling these secrets for $1 dollar a piece. We learned that secrecy sells.

I <3 Bushwick | 2009
Artistic production of community celebration with custom platforms for instant collaboration and exchange among arts and non-arts community groups. In collaboration with Eyebeam and the CAPITAL B Youth Culture Lab.
